Rain Lily

These little beauties were found along the paver of my church compound. They are so wonderful to look at especially when your eyes are tired.
Rain Lily grows well where soil drains well with full sunlight, or under shade but at the hottest spot of the garden. They can be planted in containers as well. When the leaves grows long, just trim them and they will grow back in no time.
Actually Rain Lily is considered a type of wildflower. But isn't this a pretty wildflower?

Hi Steph, I've heard of these zephyr lilies..I bet mighty pretty planted en masse. And I really loved the previous post on the many different types of hibiscus...all so beautiful!

ReplyDeleteHi Steph, I really like Rain Lilies. Some are yellow, too. I grow mine in the shade and find that they like a lot of water (and they bloom with the rain).
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie, To be honest, I haven't heard of rain lilies. I guess my level of knowledge re: gardening shows! I'm a novice--oh well! I would love to look into these plants more--they are beautiful! I'll keep them in mind. I think I'd need to put them in a very shady place (with a little sun) and give them LOTS of water. I don't know if they'd make it through the winter's here (it gets down to zero and even below, not frequently, but it can get pretty cold!).

ReplyDeleteI planted some of these little beauties this year in my own garden. Now I can't remember if I got the pink or white, lol. :)
