Unusual Forms

The blooms below may look spooky to some, he he... They will first grow its long 'tresses' then only the flowers. And as the flowers age they will turn slightly yellow.

These flowers release a mild fragrant, grow in clusters and look really extraordinary compared with other 'prettier' blooms in my garden.

The Spider Tresses plant below meanwhile took a couple of months to send out its vine, climbing up to about two feet high on the bamboo trelles. The plant is grown in full sunlight and it seems to be fine with that.

The other plant that has amazing form in my garden is the Butterfly Plant. Their leaves look like butterflies in flight...

I am growing this plant in the bright shade whereas my mother-in-law grows it in full sunlight. The plant seems to like both conditions. The soil has to be kept moist all the time and away from dry wind, else those pretty 'butterflies' will just dry up and fall to the ground. When this happens, I prune the stems and let it re-grow.

These two plants were given by my mother-in-law in June and I am glad that they are growing well :-D

  8. Stephanie, you are really a lead in growing unusual plants! I've observed that long ago with your posts, and i envy your collections. These 2 new ones are both unknown to me, haven't seen them yet too. I love especially those butterfly plants, they seem like man-made decors on sticks. I will put a link of this in my present blog about butterflies, so they have an option to see real butterflies, or plant butterflies. thanks.
