Flowers After the Rain

Wednesday, July 03, 2019

These orchid delights come unexpectedly as I didn't notice any young buds developing before this. What I did see were purple petals still closed like a flower bud the day before.

The next morning I woke up to these three gorgeous blooms.

Although the size of the blooms is not considered that large, the colour purple made them stand out and contrast nicely with their green leaves. And, so glad I managed to snap the picture below before leaving the house.

Before that, it was the jasmine shrub that gave a surprise. This time, the blooms lasted a few days. The moderate weather during that time help to preserve the petals from turning brown.

The picture below was taken right before a heavy rain and sunset, hence looks dark. Spider tresses shrub is a rather unique plant. The shrub responds so well to pruning. Each time after a prune, the plant is quick to grow stems and leaves and flowers follows after that.

Japanese rose is another delightful shrub to have. It is always in bloom!

Happy growing flowering plants!

    1. Yup,... we call portulaca Japanese rose here. The spider tresses is really fun to grow. The plant responds well to pruning and flowers easily. Hope the rain will come soon for you. I find that this orchid of mine needs a shock (rain after a period of dry weather) in order to bloom.
