Orange is the prominent colour in my garden for the week when my orange Hibiscus rosa-sinensis sends out a flower or two on different days. The colour is more dominant when the vine, Chinese hat plant (Holmskioldia sanguinea) next to it is blooming at the same time.

In the late afternoon or when the sky is cloudy, the little hat-shaped blooms are still very obvious. Perhaps that is why the yellow-bellied sunbirds like to visit and often perch on the vine.

It has been a wonderful week and my plants are growing and blooming better than usual, yay :-D Glad to see them looking pretty!
I was also so motivated to do some gardening works. Weeding was easy as compared with re-potting. Good thing many of my pots are plastic. I cannot imagine if each and every of them are ceramic ones... they are heavy!
My Gloxinias, one blossoming and the other in blueish-purple flower is being attacked by a kind of bug. The petals dropped before it opened.

Hiding behind my Bougainvillea that is almost leafless now is my Hippeastrum 'Mrs Garfield'. I didn't realise the shrub was flowering till the flower stalk grew to about a foot high. And I was glad to see the stalk of flowers bloomed so perfectly. All four flowers opened together :-)
I was so busy over the weekend and got really tired. Anyway, I am thankful that I managed to have a good rest on Monday and finally have the time to upload a post today :-)
I will begin with my old Copper Leaf Plant (Chrysothemis pulchella). The plant has the brightest yellow flowers and orange sepals! And the coolest leaves among the plants that are in my garden. I don't think there is another plant that has the same colour except for a begonia that bears dark leaves with a shade that is close to this copper tone.

The begonia, Begonia 'Hot Tamale', an angel wing begonia, seldom flowers nowadays though. I am not sure why... may be lack of fertiliser. And it also grows rather slowly. I can't recall now when was the last time I cut back the shrub. I just know I did. And only this week I notice that it has grown back denser and bigger in size.
The weather has been getting rather weird of late. The sky was bright and clear in the morning but in the afternoon, lightning and thunderstorm begin to rule. And heavy rain follows suit.
Nonetheless, for some reason, the rain did not stop the flowers from blooming. For one, my pot of Hippeastrum reticulatum var. striatifolium has been really productive. Below is a new flower stalk that opened last weekend. It is the third stalk since the first stalk appeared mid of this year. How I wish for other bulb plants to bloom the same way.
My orange gerbera daisy nearly 'drowned' at one time. Transplanted the little frail plant and now voila... it is flowering again :-D
It was really delightful to see these deep pink fringe flowers beaming on the bush and looking radiant ;-) The plant really stole the show and my neighbour kept asking me where did that red plant come from and what's this plant...
There are many plants I have that are considered dear to me though they are not rare.
The pink Amaryllis below for example was given to me by one of my blog friends. It was sent to me personally more than a year ago and recently, it has finally sent out a stalk of buds...
The thing that strikes me about Amaryllis is that the buds are so much smaller than the final size of the flower. Quite fascinating!
It has never occurred to me that this African Violet, which normally flourishes white blooms, can put on a blueish shade. I'm not sure if this is due to the current cooler climate (cloudy and rainy) or is it due to the plant's state of health. So far, African Violets do not fair well in my garden - heat and white alphids problems kept bothering the plant.
My little bird plant is showing off its pretty blooms again. Next to it, I have planted another Pedilanthus, the Zig Zag plant.

I thought this new Amaryllis would be a pink one but it turned out to be red. The flower buds were pink at the nursery but when I brought the plant home, it developed into a much darker colour.
And when I look around my garden I was happy to see other red flowers also. I spotted Episcia flowers instantly as its little blooms look really outstanding against its dark foliage. And both pots of this Episcia are in bloom at the same time :-)
