Beating the Covid-19 Blues
Friday, April 17, 2020In a country with hot and humid climate like Malaysia, keeping plants alive can be challenging. Plants especially potted ones need to be watered on a daily basis. So, gardening means tending plants every day.
But once you get used to the routine and see the plants growing happily just like my Chalice Vine, you will feel happy as well.
What you see in the picture below is actually all of this Chalice Vine. Although the vine is just about a foot high and with only some leaves on it, its cup-shaped bloom can be huge and one that can certainly put a smile on your face.
Bougainvilleas love hot and humid climate. So glad to see mine flowering right now.
So is my Chinese fringe flower shrub.
Only thing is that the shrub is bearing less leaves.
Happiness is also in seeing those little cups hanging at the end of the miniature monkey cup vines...
Meanwhile my small bird's nest fern in twisted leaf form look mighty albeit small in stature.
Oh, this rose has finally opened!
Took a sniff while passing by it in the morning.
Mints apart from adding taste to a dish, bring an aroma to uplift the mood :D
Let's keep gardening (at home!) to beat the Covid-19 blues together.

Lovely post.Chalice vine is new for me its cup shaped flower is so exquisite .I too like growing aromatic herbs like mint, oregano, coriander but they are hard to protect from harsh summer heat waves so mostly end up till spring .Bougaivilleas grow in profusion effotlessly throughout year specially adds color to summer garden in deprive of any other color.
ReplyDeleteCoriander cannot withstand the heat here too and is short-lived.
DeleteLucky we can spend more time gardening.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true.
DeleteThe color of your bougainvillea is so soft, I like it. Love to see your lush mint. Stay safe and healthy.
ReplyDeleteThis pot of mint is forever regrowing as I often cut sprigs of it to garnish my curry noodle.
DeleteYes we get engrossed when tending to the plants even though we might overspent the time there but nevertheless it keeps us happy.
ReplyDeleteThe Chalice vine is new to me. Thanks.
LOL I totally agree on the engrossed part. I have to also remember to keep my gate closed every time I am in the garden, mainly for 'safe reason'. Btw that vine is seldom seen (you are right) as not many people grow it. It will look good over a robust fence or a pergola.
